Withernsea will come together to honour those who gave their lives in service during two key ceremonies for Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Sunday – 9th November
The commemorations will begin with a service at the Methodist Church at 9:55am, recognising the solemn importance of the day. At 10:30am, attendees will proceed in a march to the new war memorial, where a service will start at 10:58am.
The service will include readings of welcome messages, the deeply moving Exhortation at 11:00am, and the traditional playing of the Last Post followed by the Reveille.
At 11:03am, community groups and organisations will honour the fallen by laying wreaths at the memorial, after which a service will be held at 11:15am. By 11:25am, attendees will have the choice to either:
-
Visit St Nicholas Church for the blessing of the war memorial clock, or
-
Head to the Meridian Centre for light refreshments.
Remembrance Day – Tuesday, 11th November
On the official Remembrance Day, Withernsea Royal British Legion and Withernsea Town Council will host a service at the old war memorial. This ceremony follows a similar structure to Sunday’s observance:
-
11:00am: Welcome messages are read aloud.
-
11:00am onwards: The Last Post and Reveille are played in tribute.
-
11:03am: Community groups and organisations lay wreaths at the site.
-
11:15am: A service is held to further honour those who served and sacrificed.
-
11:25am: The community is invited either to** St Nicholas Church** for the blessing of the war memorial clock, or to the Meridian Centre for light refreshments.
Both days provide meaningful opportunities for Withernsea residents to come together in remembrance and gratitude for those who fought and gave their lives in the defence of freedom. Your participation helps to carry forward their legacy and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.
